ESTHER CURRIE
Esther has always loved travelling and was fortunate enough to join Alitalia Airlines straight after school. She started as a secretary and over the 15 years with the airlines moved up the ranks starting in reservations then promoted into sales and then as branch manager of the Durban office. In 1995 she was then promoted, as one of the youngest woman to hold a senior management position for the airline, to Sales Manager for Kwa Zulu Natal, the Western Cape, Eastern Cape as well as Swaziland, Lesotho and Namibia, during these 3 years Esther was managing a fully staffed office in Durban as well as one in Cape Town. She was offered an opportunity to move to head office but with her family in Durban she decided that it was time for a change in career and was employed by MSC Shipping to head their retail travel offices of Medtravel, as well as being National Manager for Medtour, an Italian Tour operator. In 1999 while visiting the USA Esther she was introduced to multi sales and marketing company specialising in the travel industry, she found this idea exciting and decided to try this in Durban. Esther’s sister Claudia joined her and the concept of AMALFI Travel Promotions was born in 1999, the company has grown from strength to strength and we are proud to be associated with our many wonderful products. CLAUDIA SMITH
Starting her career in the Travel Industry in October 1996, Claudia was employed by RENNIES TRAVEL to run their Forex Department this entailed dealing with banks, clients and travel agents buying and selling foreign currency as well as customer relations. She soon worked her way into a senior position and decided to pursue a challenge in the retail department as there was no further growth in Forex at that time . Claudia moved up the ranks and became Assistant Manager of the Rennies Travel Musgrave Branch. After 10 Years of service with them she resigned to join her husband to head the finance/customer division of his company. Deciding that travel is where she belonged but not wanting to work in retail or wholesale she joined Esther in forming Amalfi. E-mail: claudia@amalfitravel.co.za

LUCY ARRIGO
Lucy had the travel bug at a young age, after leaving school Lucy backpacked round East and West Europe and had many wonderful experiences, she decided that a career in travel would suit her. Lucy attended college and was awarded her Travel Diploma plus her IATA/UAFTA in 1994, after short stint in wholesale industry Lucy found that a desk was not for her and she moved out of travel and into sales. In 1995 Lucy started at Panasonic Business System and did direct sales for 5 years, she was very successful and she moved up the corporate ladder very quickly heading up the training division, during this time she hit all her annual incentives, therefore still enjoying the travel perks to destinations such as, Rio, USA and Sun City. Lucy then moved to ICC Office Automation PABX where Lucy was the manager of their Durban Branch. In 2001 Lucy relocated to the UK and joined the sales team of TNT international covering a very difficult and extremely competitive market, here again Lucy was very successful , Lucy then moved to Mallorca where she and her husband ran their own business. However the call of Africa was strong and Lucy returned home to the family business and in 2004 she joined the Amalfi Team and is a very invaluable and well loved face to her clients and agents alike… E-mail: lucy@amalfitravel.co.za
